London-based Ofili provides a professional bridal hair and make-up service which caters for the Black community. The company provides every salon treatment necessary for a bride of colour on her wedding day, including hairstyling, make-up application and manicure, in the comfort of her own home or a venue of her choice.
The highly skilled hairstylists and make-up artists at Ofili have extensive experience of styling afro hair and carrying out makeovers for women of colour.
The company is the brainchild of Nwanne Ofili and was created following her own sister’s wedding experience, which included an extensive search for a make-up artist who was practised in working with women of colour and an agonising wait in the hair salon on the morning of her big day.
Nwanne said “Brides of colour are far too often faced with having to wait in line to be attended to at the hair salon on the morning of their wedding not knowing whether or not they’re going to make it in time for their own wedding, now they can relax, sit back and be pampered in their own homes by the highly skilled hairstylists and make-up artists that Ofili provides.”
Ofili is also willing to travel anywhere in the UK to ensure that brides of colour everywhere can attend their special day looking and feeling their very best.
Although Ofili was created with brides of colour in mind, the company also caters for Asian and European brides.
Nwanne officially launched the company at the Yoruba Gbayi Anniversary Award of Excellence 2009 in August of this year, where Ofili offered guests at the event the chance to have a makeover by one of its highly skilled make-up artists. The ceremony marked the first anniversary of the voice of Yorubas (a West African ethnic group) in television and was attended by His Imperial Majesty, Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II with another 15 frontline Obas across Yorubaland.
Ofili also offers its hair and make-up service to fashion designers, magazine and television companies. Ofili’s next venture involves being featured on a new talk show called AfroBrit, which is dedicated to promoting Black British success stories, and will be aired live in November. Ofili’s talented make-up artists will be providing their services to presenters and guests to ensure they look perfect for the show.
